Annual General Assembly

At Federatia Romana de Cricket’s recent Annual General Meeting, delegates of FRC member clubs heard about the performances of the national senior men’s team, the exciting new women’s team in 2022, and the season’s domestic national championships and underage cricket.

Gabriel Marin was reelected as President of FRC, Abdul Shakoor was elected Vice-President, and Simona Niculescu and Andrew Begg were returned as Secretary general and National Coach.

Aftab Kayani, Cosmin Zavoiu, and Arun Kumar were voted in as new FRC board members, replacing Bogdan Mercea, Ion Ivascu, and James Kodor, who were thanked for their service.

Later that same day, prominent figures in cricket in Romania attended Cricket Romania’s inaugural awards, held at Karishma.

The following were honored:

BEST BATTER: Ramesh Satheesan

BEST BOWLER: Taranjeet Singh

BEST NEWCOMER: Manmeet Koli

BEST EMERGING TALENT: Luca Petre

BEST MATCH OFFICIAL: Atif Naqvi

TOP CONTRIBUTOR: Isfahan Doekhie

SPIRIT OF CRICKET: Arun Kumar

A special award was given to Simona Niculescu for her contribution throughout the year.

FRC’s sponsors and partners, including ICC, Romania’s Ministry of Sport, Romania’s Oina federation, the Primaria of Moara Vlasiei, IT Teams, Franklin Templeton, Bliss Imobiliara, CricTech, and Cric Heroes were thanked, as were FRC’s deeply respected ground curator, Nelu.

FRC’s President Gabriel Marin outlined what lay ahead for Cricket Romania in 2023 and beyond.
